3.02 + 1 Miles - July 2 & 4

On Wednesday (7/2), I was off work after lunch so I stopped at one of my favorite county parks on the way home. I was excited to finally see some butterfly activity! Here are some of the butterflies I saw:

Banded Hairstreak (Satyrium calanus)

Appalachian Brown (Lethe appalachia)

Eastern-Tailed Blue (Cupido comyntas)

American Lady (Vanessa virginiensis)

Viceroy (Limenitis archippus)

My 3.02 mile path at Gleason Family Nature Preserve on Wednesday:

Friday (7/4) I hiked in the morning and forgot to track my hike. I'm pretty sure it was only slightly over 1 mile since it was pretty warm out and I spent some time around a dead tree looking at mosses, lichens, and slime molds. It was not a particularly eventful hike, but it was nice to get some fresh air before retreating indoors for the hotter portion of the day.

Moss Bells (Galerina hypnorum)

A slime mold in the genus “Physarum”

As always, thanks for following along as I hike to train for Pelotonia's October trail hike and raise money for caner research at OSU. Click Here to go to my Pelotonia page.
