3.13 Miles - A heat advisory and a new butterfly!

This morning Kate and I met at the Ohio Bird Sanctuary to try to hike before the heat advisory set in. At 7:30 this morning, the air was already humid and heavy and difficult to breathe. Deer flies were out in abundance so we only stopped twice for pictures.

Once was for a coral fungus… it was PURPLE! I had to stop!

The second time was for a butterfly. The Baltimore Checkerspot. I thought I had maybe seen one before, but upon reviewing my iNaturalist account, this was at least the first time I’ve ever gotten a photo of one… and we saw 3 individuals!
